I’ll share my story of exactly what I did to heal codependency through Inner Child Work.

After my divorce in 2015, (age 44) I found myself in a really dark, awful place. I couldn’t eat. I had sleep panics where I’d awaken from a sound sleep crying and afraid.

I felt disconnected and foggy and after sitting on my bed for what felt like a few minutes, only to realize it was actually 3 hours, I knew I needed help.

I reached out to a recommended therapist who told me during the first session that I was codependent and it had to do with my childhood.

Inner Child Work Requires Serious Commitment

I got my credit card out and decided to pre pay for therapy sessions to keep me accountable. Money is a great motivator for accountability.

My method was simple. I’d use therapy to discover why I showed up the way I did in relationships and then further investigate all of these reasons on my own in between sessions. This was when I discovered Inner Child Work.

I Google searched, “How to Heal Codependency.”

I found loads of articles and YouTube videos. The rabbit hole went deep and I was committed to the journey. Inner Child Reparenting was a method that resonated with me.

I got the Inner Bonding Workbook, by Dr. Margaret Paul and Homecoming, by John Bradshaw, two books I now use with my clients and started integrative reading.

Integrative reading is reading for the purposes of taking information and actually applying it to your life through new behaviors and actions.

I teach my clients how to do this style of reading and it accelerates their personal development. It requires taking notes as you read to internalize the concepts that resonate and then writing out new self agreements based on what you learn.

I did 8 sessions of therapy. Then I wanted to stop talking about the past and get started on creating my desired life.

I decided to make my mission to first heal my codependency, document my healing journey via journals and on social media. I would continue to always invest in my personal development and self care.

I just created a free Introduction to Inner Child Work that offers 200 journal prompts designed to teach you how to heal your inner child and actually develop self reflection, deeper connection, more confidence, self compassion and self love. Click below to get it.

Within 90 days of 3 hours daily dedicated to my healing and personal development, I had reprogrammed my mind and nervous system. I felt better but I knew there was still more work to be done.

This was the first time I felt I totally belonged to God and myself.

I wasn’t a girlfriend, a fiancee, or a wife.

I was with my creator and never alone.

I truly wanted to be ok with myself.

I didn’t want to date anyone. I wanted to focus on me, reconnecting with myself and learning to give myself the love, care, validation, attention, affirmation and emotional security I was always looking outside of myself for.

This is what Inner Child Healing does. It teaches you how to love yourself. It’s truly empowering.

As for me personally, Inner Child Work strengthened my faith and solidified my relationship with God, my creator. My clients experience this same deeper connection with God and a deep feeling of peace and unconditional love.

As a woman of faith, I believe deeply that something greater than us humans (or Science) put us here for a purpose, and to learn, evolve and elevate our consciousness.

Inner Child Work requires faith.

Inner Child Healing requires a forensics of your past. It requires loads of courage and accountability and without faith, you’ll have nothing to strengthen you and support you from within when triggered.

Inner Child Work will trigger you.

For the faithful and courageous, these triggers will be seen as necessary emotional guidance alerting you to the very things in need of healing and reinvention.

This is how profound, life changing growth is achieved; by looking into the darkness and asking for the light to shine.

For those with a self pitying, victim mindset who prefer complaining and blaming others, Inner Child Work is what these people desperately need and probably won’t do.

Why? Because they are living life as a wounded inner child.

We see people like this every day. They are very disconnected and lost. They get attention from their own misery and expect others to alter themselves to suit their needs. These people weaponize compassion, empathy and are highly narcissistic and toxic.

The people who are willing to assume full responsibility for all outcomes in their lives, already have a level of self awareness and the personal integrity necessary to be accountable for their own actions, get phenomenal results from Inner Child Work.

Inner Child Work is the most efficient and effective, natural process to heal from codependency, to raise self worth, self confidence and reinvent your life.

My Introduction to Inner Child Work Free Program is the thing to help you get you started. It outlines the process, and how to actually begin to connect with your wounded inner child. And, if at any time you need support my calendar is available.

If you arrived at this article take it as a sign that you are ready for this incredible journey back to yourself. Inner Child Work will turn you into a certain, secure, truly independent thinker, with heightened awareness, intuition and a positive outlook on life.

Inner Child Work will help you to put yourself first and meet your own needs which helps you to trust yourself more and more. When you can take care of yourself and make choices that advance you forward in life, you won’t tolerate any negativity or toxicity in others.

You’ll repel narcissistic people because they are predatory and want to claim your wounded inner child. This is how they manipulate you.
